Meet Cathy!
Cathy has always been a mountain girl and went on her first camping trip when she was just 3 weeks old! She came to Durango to camp with her family when she was 7 years old, and when her parents retired to Durango 29 years ago — Cathy felt like her family hit the lottery! Each summer after they moved here Cathy packed up her minivan, her children and her dog, and drove out from Illinois. Finally, when her youngest son graduated from high school and joined the Marines, and her daughter had just completed 5th grade, Cathy and her family decided it was time to make the move! They have been in Durango for 13 years now. Cathy has an amazing husband of 25 years, and together they have 5 children. All of her children with the exception of her beautiful daughter, Faith, live in Illinois. Cathy is also the proud "grammie" to an angel faced and lively 3 year old granddaughter who has a little brother or sister on the way soon! Her 91 year old father is still in Durango and is cherished by all who meet him. Family is the most important thing in the world to Cathy, and she is blessed with a truly amazing one.
Cathy loves to do anything outside, including watching her daughter, Faith and her husband, Doug play golf! She is a great cheerleader for them. In addition to being an avid reader, she also loves hiking, running, snowshoeing and skiing and has recently dabbled in water color painting. Cathy is also very lucky to work for an incredible Non-Profit in Durango. She is the Communications and Outreach Manager for the Durango Adult Education Center. They provide GED courses, Citizenship classes, and ESL (English as a second language) classes to adult learners in the Four Corners area. Working for such a worthy cause with amazing people makes her job so much fun. It is the complete circle for a career that began in elementary education to end with adult education. Instead of lesson plans, however, she is planning fundraisers and events!
Cathy owns quite a bit of Z SUPPLY — although she always has a very hard time choosing what to buy at lively. She walks in and loves everything, and has a very special place in her heart for the shoes! Cathy loves shopping at lively because, “lively is my favorite store in Durango. Not only are the clothes incredible and of the very best quality, working with the lively ladies is always so much fun. You feel like you are visiting your best friend's closet and not a boutique every time you walk in the store. The genuine care you get from the staff at lively makes you feel like part of the family. Johnna does such an amazing job of keeping the selections of clothing, jewelry, hats, shoes and accessories not only fashionable but timeless. I have items in my closet from the first year she opened the shop! Z SUPPLY, of course!”.
